Smurfs Lip Balm
A not-quite-so-baffling Smurfs™ product from Dollar Tree. Full disclosure: I didn’t buy this, nor have I used it.

This one actually makes a little more sense than the Smurfs exfoliating body sponge or the Smurfs facial brush. A child young enough to enjoy The Smurfs™ (maybe 3 to 8 years old) could very possibly like using chapstick. It might make sense to a youngster to try to convince their mother to buy this. It also looks like this particular product is targeted at small girls. The lip balm case is pink, and features the only female Smurf, Smurfette.
This product does have some oddities. First, Smurfs don’t have lips. Neither Smurfette nor Generic Smurf (jumping with joy on this package, too) have visible lips. Papa Smurf has a mouth right in his beard, but does not have lips. Do an image search for “smurfs” or “smurf lips” or “smurfs don’t have lips”. No lips. Smurfs conceptually could use regular skin lotion on the skin above and below their masticatory orifices.
The less disturbing major oddity is the shape of the lip balm itself, best visible on the back of the packaging.

The bizarre “Flips Open” diagram shows that the lip balm is distributed in a semi-circular cake. The shape invites poorly-coordinated younger children to misuse it. The younger Smurf enthusiasts who are given this lip balm will smear it all over their lower faces. Responsible adults will have to track the lib balm, and apply it to small children themselves.
