Hen and Chicks Whorls
It is said that the Fibonacci Sequence appears all over the place in nature.
I got some hen and chicks plants this spring. They seem to be growing well.

That’s one of 4 plants I got from Lowe’s this spring, viewed from immediately overhead.

Above, I outlined the “clockwise” (bending to the right going out) whorls in red. 13 whorls! 13 is a member of the Fibonacci Sequence!

Above, I outlined the “counterclockwise” (bending to the left going out) whorls in yellow. 21 whorls! 21 is a member of the Fibonacci Sequence! I had a lot of trouble delineating the counterclockwise whorls. I did it several times, and about half the time I got 20 whorls.
Let me know if you get a different number by counting spirals.
Conclusion
This particular li’l hen-and-chicks plant has counts of whorls that are elements of the Fibonacci Sequence. Weird.
